All about the Guild

The Queensland Flute Guild Inc. was founded in 1972 by James Carson, then Principal Flute of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The Guild aims to promote and encourage enjoyment and understanding of the flute and flute playing, and to foster musical excellence. Now in its fourth decade of operation, the QFG has approximately 250 members of all ages and from all walks of life. We all have one thing in common - a love of the flute!

Every year, numerous events are run by the QFG, including:

  • Queensland Flute Challenge (the state’s most important eisteddfod for flute players)
  • Masterclasses and workshops with outstanding local, interstate and international flautists
  • Concerts
  • Teachers’ Sessions
  • Ensemble opportunities

The Guild looks forward to welcoming new members.
