About Us

The Queensland Flute Guild Inc. was founded in 1972 by James Carson, then Principal Flute of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The Guild aims to promote and encourage enjoyment and understanding of the flute and flute playing, and to foster musical excellences. 


With rich foundations and the support of esteemed industry professionals, QFG continues as a progressive and innovative resource for its members. Now in its fourth decade of operation, the QFG has approximately 200 members of all ages and from all walks of life. We all have one thing in common - a love of the flute!


The Queensland Flute Guild offers much to its members, such as performance opportunities, competitions, masterclasses and concerts to attend. Along with the latest news and information in fluting worldwide, around the nation, and here in our backyard, Queensland.

Members Benefits

Our guild is here for you, flute players and flute lovers! We volunteer our time and work hard to be a resource for our community. Some of the benefits for our members include free listing on our teachers directory,  free use of our public liability insurance (up to $20m),  free borrowing rights to the QFG music library, borrowing rights to our beautiful Alto and Bass flutes and Piccolo. 

You will also have access to all competitions, scholarships, concerts and events, as well as flute news to bring you up to date.  Have ideas about how we could do that better? Join us today!
